Compress images to 100 KB: file size, pixels and quality
OHLEEBOX tool guide · Reviewed October 27, 2026
A failed image upload may be caused by file size, format or pixel dimensions. Keep the original and review a compressed copy with these checks.
1. Here, 100 KB means 100,000 bytes
Some systems display a kilobyte as 1,000 bytes; others use 1,024. A 102,400-byte file may appear as 100 KB but exceeds a strict 100,000-byte limit. This tool uses 1 KB = 1,000 bytes and shows the exact output byte count.
2. If only file size is limited
Choose the 100 KB preset and select JPG or WebP. If the destination accepts only JPG, use JPG. Automatic resizing adjusts quality first and then reduces resolution while preserving aspect ratio. Check “Target met” and the exact byte count before saving.
3. If exact pixels are required
Enable exact pixel dimensions and enter the destination’s requirements. The default 354×472 is an example, not an official requirement for every application, exam or country. Follow the destination’s current instructions.
Different aspect ratios are center-cropped. Check that faces, signatures and document text are not cut off. Exact-dimension mode does not reduce the pixel count to reach the file-size target, so the result may exceed it.
4. Compare the same sample
“Try a sample” generates a 1,600×1,000 geometric image in your browser. Compress it to 100 KB and 200 KB to compare size and clarity. Results for a geometric sample do not predict results for a portrait photograph.
5. Check your downloaded image
Confirm that the file opens, the exact bytes fit the limit, the pixel dimensions are correct, faces and small text are readable, and JPG or WebP is accepted. A ZIP is for saving multiple results; extract individual images before submitting them to an image-upload field.
Where are images processed?
Images are read and re-encoded in your browser without uploading them to our server. JPG replaces transparency with white; WebP supports transparency. Advertising scripts may make separate network requests. See the privacy policy for details.
